What is the Importance of fasting in Ramadan?

Answered by: Sheikh Zafar ul Hasan

Hadith:

Prophet of Allah ﷺ said:

Whoever fasted in Ramadan with Eeman (faith) and hasbah (hoping to attain the rewards and goodness), all of his previous sins would be forgiven.

Bukhari: 2014

Hadith:

Prophet of Allah ﷺ said:

O People! The Paradise has a gate called

باب الریان (Gate of Rayyan), and only the people who fasted shall be able to enter through it.

An-Nisai: 2441

Rules to follow while fasting:

  1.  A person who is fasting should avoid Rafas (to avoid wanton and lustful behavior or speech)
  2. Shouting or yelling is forbidden while fasting. Luqman, the wise, advised his son to avoid shouting and yelling as the loudest yet the most awful sound is the braying of a donkey.
  3. Ignorance and callowness should also be avoided so as to seek the maximum rewards and goodness.
