Welcome to this episode brothers and sisters where today, In Sha Allah, we are going to be looking at the practicalities of how to make Ruqyah. We will discuss how to practically sit down and make Ruqyah over yourself, over a family member or a loved one, and over your children as well. Before we talk about making Ruqyah for magic or Jinn possession or evil eye or indeed for any health related issue, I want to talk about the proactive measures that we can take on a day to day basis to protect ourselves In Sha Allah so that we don’t need to be in a situation where we are possessed and we are making Ruqyah [and these types of things]. So I want to talk about the proactive Azkaar [and these types of things] that we can do In Sha Allah in order to protect ourselves from the word go. The first thing that I want to mention is your Aqeedah – your creed and your following of the Sunnah of the Messenger (ﷺ). Take it as a principle, foundation: The more you understand the Sunnah, the more you implement the Sunnah, the more you are upon the creed of the Salaf As-Saalih (the righteous predecessors), the more you are going to be protected by Allah (ﷻ). So this is our foundation. Upon this we build on the other things. So the next I want to talk about are the five daily prayers. You must be praying 5 times a day. It’s so important! The Messenger (ﷺ) said: The covenant that distinguishes between us (Muslims) and them (non-Muslims) is the prayer; so whoever leaves it, he has committed Kufr (disbelieved). [At-Tirmidhi] Brothers and sisters, if you are not praying your 5 daily prayers on time then you are like an open door, and the Shayateen will come and go as they please. The prayer, after your Aqeedah, is the biggest form of defense; it is the first line of your defense after your Aqeedah; it is that fortress wall. Upon this fortress wall we have another fortress, and that is those Azkaar – those Duas from the Sunnah of the Messenger (ﷺ) and those things that he would do and those precautionary measures that he would take which he would use to seek protection from the Shayateen. So, let’s go through those In Sha Allah. 1) Ayat-ul-Kursee The Messenger (ﷺ) said: “Whoever says this when he rises in the morning will be protected from jinns until he retires in the evening, and whoever says it when retiring in the evening will be protected from them until he rises in the morning.” [Al-Hakim 1/562] So if you recite Ayat-ul-Kursee in the morning and in the evening, In Sha Allah, by the permission of Allah, you will have 24 hours of protection. Likewise concerning Ayat-ul-Kursee, the Messenger (ﷺ) told us that whoever recites Ayat-ul-Kursee before he sleeps, Allah (ﷻ) will appoint a guard for him until the morning and no Shaytan will come close to him. This is Ayat-ul-Kursee which is the greatest Ayah of the Qur’an! The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Whoever recites Aayat al-Kursee immediately after each prescribed prayer, there will be nothing standing between him and his entering Paradise except death." [Ibn Hibbaan] In Sha Allah, if he has the correct Aqeedah and he prays 5 times a day and he recites Ayat-ul-Kursee after each of the 5 daily prayers, when he dies, he will go straight to Jannah by the permission of Allah (ﷻ). 2) Dua to Recite When You Leave Your House in the Morning The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “When a man goes out of his house and says: بِسْمِ اللَّهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ لاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ then it is said: ‘You have been guided, sufficed and protected,’ and the devils go far away from him, and another devil says: ‘What can you do with a man who has been guided, sufficed and protected?’ [Sunan Abu Dawud] Look at this SubhanAllah! We have already spoken about protecting your home with Surat-ul-Baqarah and all the other issues which we have mentioned, and you can go back to that episode and we have spoken about this issue in detail. Other things that you can do: 3) The Mu'awwidhatain Reciting Surah Al-Falaq and reciting Surah An-Naas - these are protections. It was narrated that Uqbah bin Amr said: “I followed the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) when he was riding, and I placed my hand on his foot and said: O Messenger of Allah, teach me Surah Hud and Surah Yusuf. He said: ‘You will never recite anything greater before Allah than: { قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ } and { قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ } “Say: I seek refuge with (Allah), the Lord of the daybreak.” and “Say: I seek refuge with (Allah) the Lord of mankind.’” 4) The Last Two Verses of Surat-ul-Baqarah Likewise, the Messenger (ﷺ) told us about the last two Ayahs of Surat-ul-Baqarah - آمَنَ الرَّسُولُ until the end of Surat-ul-Baqarah. So just two Ayahs. Abu Mas'ud Al-Badri (رضي الله عنه) reported: I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, “He who recites the two Ayat at the end of Surat Al-Baqarah at night, they will suffice him.” [Al- Bukhari and Muslim]. Likewise, we have those Azkaar from the Sunnah of the Messenger (ﷺ). 5) Khaulah bint Hakim (رضي الله عنها) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: “Whosoever stops at a place and says: nothing will harm him until he leaves that place.” [Muslim] 6) Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The Prophet (ﷺ) used to seek Refuge with Allah for Al-Hasan and Al-Husain and say: “Your forefather (i.e. Abraham) used to seek Refuge with Allah for Ishmael and Isaac by reciting the following: أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لاَمَّةٍ ‘O Allah! I seek Refuge with Your Perfect Words from every devil and from poisonous pests and from every evil, harmful, envious eye.’” [Sahih Bukhari] SubhanAllah, look at this! There are so many Duas in the Sunnah of the Messenger (ﷺ) where we can have proactive 24 hours, around the clock protection of Allah (ﷻ). But suppose now, you know that you are possessed or you watched the previous video where we spoke about some of the signs and symptoms of magic and jinn possession or evil eye as well, and you want to perform Ruqyah over yourself. Practically now, how should I perform Ruqyah? The first thing is to humble yourself before Allah (ﷻ). Know that He is your Master and your Creator and that you are just His slave. Humble yourself before Allah (ﷻ). Recognize your need in front of Allah (ﷻ). Recognize that you are powerless in front of Allah (ﷻ) – Al-Wahid, Al-Qahhaar, Al-Jabbaar, Al-Wahhaab. You are powerless in front of Allah (ﷻ). So humble yourself, and know, as Allah (ﷻ) says: Nobody can raise it (the calamity) except Allah; nobody can change your situation but Allah (ﷻ). So flee to Allah; run to Allah and beg of Allah. So humble yourself. Before you begin, humble yourself. Dua is the weapon of the believer. Dua is the sword of the believer, and yet we don’t make Dua. Make Dua at the times when Dua is accepted. So, for example, when you are in prostration, make Dua to Allah (ﷻ). Ask Him to send down His cure upon you. Ask Him to remove your difficulties. When you are traveling – the Dua of the traveler is accepted. When it is raining – what a good time to make Dua as the Messenger (ﷺ) told us. When you are in a moment of immense difficulty or a moment of pain or a moment of need, make Dua to Allah (ﷻ). On the Day of Jumuah, make Dua; in the last third of the night, make Dua. All of these are times when Dua is accepted. So make Dua to Allah (ﷻ). So make Dua to Allah (ﷻ). Now practically, what am I going to need? You are going to need some: - Water - Honey - Olive oil - Black seeds You need a bottle of water which is 5 or 6 litres, so you can have three 2 litre bottles, or you can have one big 5 or 6 litre bottle. What do I now need to do? I need to first start with أعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الشَّيطَانِ الرَّجِيم بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ - Then recite Surat-ul-Fatihah After each Ayah, spittle into the bottle – which is not just spit and not just air, it is a mixture of the two. So you are going to say: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ *Spittle thrice* الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ *Spittle thrice* مَالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ *Spittle thrice* Until the end of the Surah. - Recite Surat-ul-Fatihah into the bottle three times. - Recite Surat-ul-Fatihah into the olive oil three times. - Surat-ul-Baqarah Take the water and the olive oil and recite Surat-ul-Baqarah, from the beginning to end. From beginning to end, recite all of Surat-ul-Baqarah and not after every Ayah but ever so often, maybe after every couple of pages or 3 pages, stop and spittle into the olive oil. - Recite Ayat-ul-Kursee upon the water and olive oil. So you would say: اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ ۚ *Spittle thrice* لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ ۚ *Spittle thrice* Until the end of the Ayah. - Recite Verse 102 of Surat-ul-Baqarah [2:102] over the water and olive oil three times. [Quran 2:102] - Recite verses 115-119 of Surat-ul-A’raaf [7:115-119] three times, as done earlier by spittling into the water and spittling into the olive oil. [Quran 7:115-119] - Recite Verses 79-82 of Surat-ul-Anfaal [10:79-82] three times, spittling into the water and olive oil. [Quran 10:79-82] - Similarly, recite Verses 65-70 of Surah Taha [20:65-70] three times, spittlilng into the water and olive oil. [Quran 20:65-70] Notice that these last three Surahs that were mentioned (Surat-ul-A'raaf, Surat-ul-Anfaal and Surah Taha) along with the verse in Surat-ul-Baqarah, Allah (ﷻ) is talking about magic. So, we are dealing with the Aayaat (verses) of magic and reciting over the water as well. - Similarly, recite the last two Aayaat (verses) of Surat-ul-Baqarah three times and spittle into the water and olive oil. قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ *Spittle thrice* اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ *Spittle thrice* لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ *Spittle thrice* وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ *Spittle thrice* - Repeat the above for Surat-ul-Falaq { قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ} and Surah An-Naas { قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ} three times. Now we have what we have prepared of the water, olive oil and we have the honey as well. The olive oil should be applied in the night time before you go to bed. Apply the olive oil all over your body. So you say Bismillaah and from your head all the way to your toes, apply it all over your body every night for 7 days. In the morning, take some of the water which you have recited over (which will be 5-6 litres). Take a glass of this water and pour it into a bucket. Mix it with normal tap water and make ghusl with this water. Question: Is it okay for this water which I have recited on to go down the drain? Answer: Absolutely, yes. Remember, with your recitation, this water does not suddenly become holy or blessed. We are doing this seeking a cure from Allah (ﷻ) and this is one of the means that we are taking, with the permission of Allah (ﷻ). So it is fine for it to go down the drain because the water is just normal water as you would normally bathe with. So make a ghusl with this water. Once you have made this ghusl and you are ready, make a drink. - Making the drink Take a pinch of the black seeds. Remember the hadeeth of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying, “There is healing in black cumin for all diseases except death.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari] Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Healing is in three things: (1) A drink of honey…” [Sahih Bukhari] This is where one of our teachers said that many people get it wrong. They just eat the honey and they don’t drink honey. The Messenger (ﷺ) mentioned specifically that there is Shifa and cure in the drink of honey. Question: I cannot get hold of black seeds. Is it okay for me to use the black seed oil in the liquid form? Answer: Yes In Sh Allah. If you get hold of the black seed, that’s better. If you can’t get hold of the black seeds, then get some cold pressed black seed oil, which is good quality black seed oil with nothing added or taken away. Just take a table-spoon and add that to your drink. So you have water mixed with honey mixed with black seed. Drink this 3 times a day – in the morning, evening and at night time. So for the first 7 days, take a ghusl with the Ruqyah water in the morning, which will wash off the oil that was applied the night before. So take a ghusl with the Ruqyah water. Then take the Ruqyah drink and have this in the morning, evening and at night time. Furthermore, before bed apply the olive oil and in the following day wash it off with the ghusl. Follow this plan for 7 days. For the first couple of days you might feel really bad. You might get headaches, aches and pains and you yourself will be amazed. You are not really doing any physical activity yet you are getting these aches, pains and headaches. Don’t worry about it. Keep going until the 7 days.

C) Practical Steps
