What are the qualities of Qur'an?
The Qualities of Qur'an
Hadith:
Four points are mentioned in this hadith:
- Virtue of reciting Qur'an
- Virtue of teaching Qur'an
- Virtue of implementing Qur'an in our daily lives
- The retribution of neglecting Qur'an
First Quality:
This means that Qur'an is going to intercede for a person who used to recite (read) Quran, and for whomever Quran will intercede, shall be declared successful.
O People! Recite Qur'an and stay connected to it. On the Day of Judgement, Quran would intercede before Allah for those who recited it and implemented it in their daily lives. And when Quran shall intercede, Allah being مشفع, would not reject its intercession and how could the Word of Allah be ever rejected?
Second Quality:
Prophet of Allah صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم explained that the second quality of Qur'an is that it would complain against certain people before Allah and Allah Would not reject its complain; Its complain would be accepted.
Meaning of the Hadith:
An important Hadith of Sahih Muslim narrates: My followers! Always remember that this is the Book of Allah. Be careful! Either it would come to intercede for you on the Day of Judgement or shall come to complain against you.
Narrated by Sahih Muslim
It is also mentioned in Quran that the people who would neglect or ignore Quran, Prophet of Allah صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم would complain against them on the Day of Judgement.
(25:30)
Third Quality:
The person who integrates the teachings of Qur'an in his practical life, would be led to Jannah by Qur'an.
Believing in Qur'an can only be achieved (in its true sense) by believing in its teachings and by acting upon its teachings, too.
Allah Mentions in Surah Baqarah:
“Those to whom We have given the Book, recite it with its recital. They [are the ones who] believe in it- And whoever disbelieves in it- it is they who are the losers”.
(2:121)
“With its true recital” means acting upon whatever (teachings) they recite with their tongues.
Fourth Quality:
A person who ignored and neglected Qur'an, (did not recite it or paid any heed to it and did not implement it in his daily life) would be dragged to Jahannum (Hell) by Qur'an.
According to some narrations, Quran would say:
O Allah! He did not fulfill what we made obligatory, did whatever we forbade him to, liked whatever we disliked.
So, Allah would have that person hung upside down, then dragged towards Hell and then thrown into the Hell-fire.
Things to Do:
We should learn Qur'an (as much as possible) and then try to incorporate its teachings in our lives. May Allah Allow us to learn and teach Qur'an even after Ramadan. May Allah Make Qur'an to intercede for us on the Day of Judgement, not to complain against us. Ameen.
