What is the importance of reciting/reading Quran in Ramadan?
Importance of Quran in Ramadan:
One of the most loved ibadah of Allah during Ramadan is (recitation of) Quran.
Ramadan is also known as شھر القرآن (month of Quran) because Allah Revealed Quran in the month of Ramadan.
شھر رمضان الذی انزل فيه القران
Fasting and Quran have been deeply interlinked By Allah. So, in Ramadan Muslims should try to recite Quran as much as possible.
Hadith:
Jibraeel used to visit Prophet of Allah صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم every night in Ramadan till the end of the month. The Prophet صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم used to recite Quran to Jibraeel and when Jibraeel met him, he used to get more generous than the fast (moving) wind.
Sahih Bukhari: 1902
The scholars have deduced two points from this:
- If there was any deed greater (in rewards) than the recitation (تلاوة) of Quran (in Ramadan) then Jibraeel would have come to the Prophet صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم for that.
This shows that during Ramadan, recitation (تلاوة) of Quran is the greatest deed (in rewards).
- Scholars have also deduced that if during Ramadan, Quran is recited (read) and learned in Halaqahs (groups or classes), then it would be a deed of great virtue.
Meaning of Hadith:
Prophet of Allah صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم said:
الصیام و القرآن یشفعان للعبد یوم القیامة یقول الصیام یا ربی……..
Fasting and (recitation of) Quran shall intercede for the person (who fasted and recited Quran) and Allah Would accept their intercession.
Musnad Ahmed
May Allah Make all of us one of those who recite (read) Quran, ponder upon it and learn it and teach it to others. Ameen.
