I am a new muslim since May 2023. Pre Islam life: Married for 17 years, together for 19 years. Separated in 2019. We had 3 children. I have been living in Dubai since 2016. Here is where I learned about Islam. The first time I read the Quran though was in 2019. When I read Al Fatiha, I knew I was going to be Muslim. Though I read the translation only, I knew that there was no way those words can be fabricated by a ‘cult’ leader inspired by the devil. Because I was stubborn and couldn’t give up the Dubai lifestyle, I didn’t immediately revert. But I knew in my heart, the Quran was true. I have tattoos. I used to drink, I used to smoke, I used to party, I used to date, I used to post pictures on social media for attention. I know that for some people that’s judge-worthy… I cringe every time I remember. I am not proud of these. But that WAS me. After Reversion: Hijab, quit everything cold turkey. I’ve read through the whole Quran and I’m on my second round… I study it and reflect on it. I cannot shut up about it. I pray… I eat… I read… I learn… I listen to lectures… I investigate… This has been my daily life since May 2023. There are many Jihadul Nafs, not at all easy! But I persevere and will continue to persevere to try to deserve the mercies I receive from Allah. My son has embraced Islam immediately, but my daughters chose to remain christian. It has been quite lonely, because I had to stop showing up for non-muslim gatherings to avoid haram. I honestly have no friends, and I have been doing this on my own, since May 2023. My parents are persecuting me and my son, calling us terrorists. My son though is taking most of it (my children lives with their grand parents while I work in Dubai). This breaks my heart. I am here because I am looking to find a strong Muslim man to be my husband. Maybe find friends also. Help a sister out? I trust only in Allah, He is the best disposer of affairs. I hope to find one who fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him. I prefer Him to be stronger than me financially, mentally, intellectually, emotionally, and physically. He would be leading me, protecting me, providing for me, teaching me, loving me, and not judging me. Taller than me with good teeth is a plus!
